For as long as I can remember, I have had difficulty finding a way to field my incoming calls. I let go, re-hired and then again released my secretary, Mrs. Wilkins, because we couldn’t work out an effective system.
And simply having an answering machine in my office lost me more than one client.
I recently began using the PCS Free & Clear Plan with Vision, and PCS Ringers fits my needs perfectly.
I now assign a different ringer to each client’s telephone number. This system becomes useful when I’m in a meeting with a client, but am also trying to screen calls. Overt screening is so rude, you know, and I wouldn’t want my client to think that I do it to him, too.
So knowing who is on the line just by the ring - for example, whether it’s a ring like "Train Passing" or "Crazy Chicken" - now gives me the chance to prioritize discreetly, without actually looking at my phone. Whether I answer the call or not, it just seems natural. More important, my clients still feel like I’m giving them top-notch attention.
