Telometrics |
Telometry Targeting aging at its base Telometry is a new science founded on the idea that telomeres, the protective caps at the end of chromosomes, can be transferred between chromosomes or even between organisms. Each time a cell divides, it goes through a series of phases that together make up a process called Mitosis. Everytime a cell performs mitosis, each chromosome within the cell loses telomeres, and when a chromosome has lost all its telomeres, it disintegrates. Some cells, such as cancerous cells, have mechanisms that regenerate a chromosome's telomeres, thereby allowing the cell line to reproduce indefinitely. At General Telometrics, we hope to learn more in this rapidly emerging field in order to better control the life spans of cell lines
