Oral Vaccinations Eliminating disease worldwide Inoculation against many diseases has become so commonplace here in the United States that our children often dread getting their "shots." However, these inoculations are a luxury, one that is not available worldwide. In many developing countries, governments can not afford to provide their citizens with sterile needles and vaccinations. Particularly in Africa, where AIDS is rampant, it is essential that all vaccines be administered using aseptic technique to guarantee disease-free inoculation. Here at General Telometrics, we are working to simplify vaccination and make it more affordable. By genetically engineering common crops, such as bananas, we have "taught" them to produce substances that, when ingested, inoculate the subject against many diseases, such as Rubella or Tetanus (Lockjaw). It is our hope that this technique will allow all people easy access to common inoculations like the MMR. One day your kids may look forward to their shots!
