About Us

When asked what TerraShape does, the traditional answer is that we take our inspiration from 'terraforming'. Terraforming is defined by one source as 'the science of transforming a place such that it can support human life' - the stuff of science fiction, surely?

Yet despite its sci-fi heritage, the science of terraforming is very real and surprisingly old-fashioned. After all, is it not simply a question of landscape design and ecology? Subjects which are centuries old.

But we do so much more than just that; our remit extends to cover all areas of living space design, construction and modification. Whether you desire a simple log cabin in the mountains, or a lake full of fish beside it, TerraShape can design and build it. If, 15 years from now, the cabin no longer fits your requirements, we can turn it into a palace.

TerraShape was formed in 1984 in San Francisco, USA; the brainchild of landscape designer Rachel Flynn and architect Sam Erhardt. Flynn and Erhardt still run the company they founded, which can now boast eight offices worldwide and over 200 employees, taken from the best and brightest in their respective fields.
