Reviews

The first review of the new Version 3.0 Suite is in, and we're blushing! Crossed Wires Magazine had this to say about us in their November 2001 issue:

Heralded by some press outlets as "Luddite Lite", Net:Sight's new browser download leaves much to be desired - and they like it that way!

CEO Jan van Holt isn't troubled by the spectre of technogeek backlash in response to such a stripped-down utility in what looks to be an age of bells and whistles. "It just isn't my cup of tea," van Holt says, "to keep up with the shiny effete toys of today. There's certainly a good crowd of us who like to keep things simple, as well as on the up-and-up, and this tidy little browser package has got what they want. Information certainly does want to be free, but information's not a whore. Keeping information streamlined and easy to disseminate is our goal."

We think they've achieved it. Beyond the occasional twitch and glitch that comes from our own personal predilection towards overloading our system resources and therefore crashing a few programs here and there, Net:Sight Solutions' Version 3.0 Suite is slim, fast, and doesn't demand much of even our slowest machines.

While van Holt is busy messing about with cave paintings and smoke signals technology, R&D Director Eric Wyngarde has been developing and streamlining what the official website details in its features as an "intelligent agent." Documentation is nearing completion in the latest tweaks for the mail, editing, and web-server components, so it may be a while before we see anything definitive about this "agent." Wyngarde was only too happy to be enigmatic: "Look, I've spent all day communing with the voices in my head - just trust me, she's out there, and she's got a wicked sense of humor." She? Well, Mr. Wyngarde, we'll keep looking.

Some background: Net:Sight Solutions was formed in '94, and has since gone on to take the information world by storm with their aforementioned efficiency-ridden lightweight programs. The AOL-using crowd may still be in the dark about this company's innovations, but the more advanced user has at least heard of the company - they boast a download rate of hundreds per day - and it's quickly growing.

Though the company is still privately owned, rumor has it that several well-placed individuals and corporations are funding the projects. "Oh yeah," Wyngarde reports drily, "for this kind of innovation and chutzpah, all they need to do is keep me in Aero bars, and I'm happy." So there you have it, folks. A browser that runs on chocolate bars.

Our highly-paid ranking expert gave the software bundle a full four stars. Look to Net:Sight Solutions for a great alternative to your average bulky browser. Highly recommended.
