The pseudonymous Bruce Cain, 36, is a professional medical writer who works for a major worldwide medical data provider. He moonlights at a hospital "just to keep in practice," and because he's a glutton for punishment.
He also writes humor and satire columns on a freelance basis and has been planning his first novel for nearly ten years. Don't look for it this decade.
In the Game, he was the principal writer for GanMed, writing all of Doan, Thomas, and Wolfe, as well as most of the remainder of the site. He was also the principal writer and designer for the Serpent's site, creating the infuriatingly slow initial puzzle leading to the other sites (sorry!) and all of the graphic elements.
Lastly, the Wired Souls site was his inspiration during a particularly harsh fever. Dan Lee, a nod to all of the Cloudmaker Dans as well as Elan Lee, was based on a real-life friend of his. Most of the site's content was his contribution. Somebody has to accept the blame.
