I know those words up there must seem a bit grandiose to the average web traveler, but really, this town has been quite a source of pride for me since the first lines of a blueprint were drawn, the first breaking of rich soil... We're laying down the foundations of a social experiment I can guarantee our residents will be enjoying for generations to come.

Moreland, West Virginia started out as a wild expanse of practically uninhabitable land, populated by such "natural" elements as an unworkable water table, and a host of soil types that would challenge your average city-maker. Well, the founders of our great little town wanted the best for this hilly, gorgeous land, and they got it!

The landscaping company TerraShape has been the soul and savior of Moreland's backbone - or so I like to tell the new residents as they view with wonder the gorgeous man-made lake, the bike paths around it and leading up into the gentle hills, the orchards fragrant with blossom and fruit. They took a rough 'n' tumble tomboy of a patch of land, and turned it into a sleek Lady Luck, who just so happens to smile on each and every one of us Morelanders, every morning. Plans are in the works for a golf course and a gorgeous new banquet hall! When you're in Moreland, you're at home.

Our team of folks has worked so hard at putting this town on the map that even though they only broke ground in March of last year, here we stand now with a busy, bustling town, populated with a variety of good people. Many are here to relax and enjoy their retirements, while others are working hard, playing hard, making it a shining example that will live on into the future.

As I write this, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and I can hear the steady whirr of my neighbor Clem mowing his lawn. I know that in exactly ten minutes I will hear the thump of our daily newspaper hitting the front door, and that at a quarter past five, our kitchen here in the Devenish household will be host to the savory smells and wonders of gourmet cooking, all thanks to state-of-the-art cookware and appliances, and of course the magical touch of Mrs. Devenish herself.
